Among issues facing Southeast Missouri voters today:

JACKSON

-- Voters will consider a $10.54 million bond issue to finance improvements to the city's water and sewer system. The bonds would be retired through increases is user fees.

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY

-- Voters will decide a half-cent sales tax for three years to help fund construction of a Mississippi County courthouse. The tax would raise $1.2 million over three years.

-- Voters will decide whether to form Public Water Supply District No. 1. The district would encompass all areas outside the city limits of Charleston, East Prairie, Bertrand, Wyatt, Wilson City and Anniston, including any land incorporated after Jan. 1, 1997.

MARQUAND-ZION SCHOOL DISTRICT

-- Voters will decide whether to authorize the minimum adjusted operating levy to increase to an amount not more than $3.05 per $100 assessed valuation to keep the district from becoming insolvent.

SCOTT COUNTY

-- Kelly School District is asking voters to reconsider a bond issue for new equipment and school facilities. The issue, which failed in April by 70 votes, would allow the district to borrow $1.6 million for various improvements, including building additional classrooms and an industrial-vocational agricultural facility.

-- Voters in Oran will decide whether to impose a sales tax of one-half of 1 percent for capital improvements. If passed, the sales tax would fund a number of street repair and construction projects.

STODDARD COUNTY

-- Gary D. Dowdy, Jerry R. Jenkins and Steven Brown are competing for two positions as members of the Board of Directors for Public Water Supply District No. 1.

-- Several voters will consider an increase in the operating tax levy for Twin Rivers R-10 School District in Butler County. The district is requesting an increase of 91 cents per $100 assessed valuation for maintenance, renovation, supplies, instructional apparatus and other operating expenses. If approved, the proposition would be effective through 2012, and the adjusted operating levy of the school district would be an estimated $2.97 per $100 assessed valuation.
