Oran Mayor Tom Urhahn said he was extremely pleased with the vote. He said it was the first time that the city had asked for this particular sales tax.

"It is great. This is the only way we could ever get our streets fix up, " he said. "We will start in the spring and we will continue to fix the streets until they are all done."

The sales tax will furnish the funds to upgrade and pave streets. Urhahn said the city will continue the improvements ward by ward until the projects are completed. He funds from the tax will also be used for continued maintenance of the city streets.
