The Southeast Missourian asked students at Jackson Middle School what they thought about American astronauts flying aboard the Russian space station Mir.

Tiffany Wilson: "I don't think we should be putting American astronauts on there any more because of the problems they have had with the space station, unless they can fix it much better."

Eric Roth: "I think we should go ahead and put Americans on the Mir space station, but they should get it fixed up. I think it would be exciting to get to go on the space station."

Cori Chaney: "I am concerned about the safety of the American astronaut up there right now. They should do more to make it safer, but I don't think the safety problems are that serious."

Amber Streiler: "I think we should continue to send Americans there, if they really want to learn more about things in space. I think the safety issue is mostly under control."

Adwin Jones: "No, I don't think we should. If they are having safety problems, people might get hurt. They should put another space station up there first."
