NEW BUSINESS ON THE STREETS: BARBECUE RESTAURANT OPENS

Bruce's Hickory Smoke Barbecue has opened at 1027 Broadway in Cape Girardeau.

The new restaurant, which specializes in takeout orders, is open from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

"Although we specialize in carry-out orders, we do have six tables here," said Pam Burger, one of the owners.

Burger and Bruce Smith are owners of the restaurant. They previously operated a carry-out barbecue operation at the corner of William and Sprigg Street.

The restaurant features barbecue ribs and barbecue sandwiches, with trimmings of potato salad, baked beans and slaw.

Burger was a former owner of the Rajun Cajun Restaurant, which was located in downtown Cape Girardeau, and has experience in operating restaurants.

Smith was previously manager of Burger Lane, a restaurant in the West End.
