Cape Central's Lady Tigers and Notre Dame's Lady Bulldogs won their respective pools and will battle for the championship of the Notre Dame Invitational Volleyball Tournament tonight in the final game of the varsity and junior varsity tourney.

The championship game is scheduled for 9 p.m., with several other preliminary matches scheduled earlier in the evening.

The Lady Bulldogs won Pool A with 4-0 record. Scott City (2-2) was second and Marquand (0-4) third. In Pool B, the Lady Tigers won with a 3-1 mark. Oran (2-2) took second and Oak Ridge (1-3) third.

Pool play concluded Wednesday night with Notre Dame beat Scott City 15-11, 15-1; Scott City defeated Marquand 15-3, 15-4; and Cape Central knocked off Oak Ridge 15-13, 15-10.

Scott City and Oran will play the third place game tonight at 7 p.m. Marquand and Oak Ridge play for fifth place at 5 p.m.

In the JV tourney, Notre Dame and Oak Ridge will play the championship game at 8 p.m. Notre Dame's JV won pool A with a 3-1 record and Oak Ridge Pool B with a perfect 4-0 mark.

The JV third place game will be played at 6 p.m., and the fifth place game at 4 p.m.

Cape Central 3

Parkway Central 2

ST. LOUIS -- Cape Central improved to 5-11-2 with a road win Wednesday.

Nathan Gibbar scored twice for the Tigers and Brett McNabb had the other goal. McNabb's goal put Central ahead 1-0 and Gibbar's first score made it 2-0 at halftime.

After Parkway Central got on the board, Gibbar scored the eventual game-winning goal on a penalty kick. Parkway South added a late goal on a free kick, but the Tigers still prevailed.

Central's JV also picked up a victory with a 4-1 conquest. Daniel Turner scored two goals and Eric Wessel and Tate Gerard had the other two scores. The Tiger JV record stands at 3-4-2.

Central host Sikeston today.
