Mark Werner of Dutch Guttering and Insulation Inc. has attended a Gutter Helmet Dealers meeting in St. Peters where he received a Gutter Helmet Pro Certified Dealer award.

Randy Hitt, a native of Cape Girardeau, has been selected as area engineer for the Southeast Missouri District of the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Hitt is responsible for the district's northern region, which includes Ste. Genevieve, St. Francois, Perry and Madison counties, and portions of Cape Girardeau, Bollinger and Scott counties.

Hitt, a registered professional engineer, has seven years of experience with MoDOT in the St. Louis Metro District. He has most recently been involved in the construction division, managing work on major river bridges, new and upgraded interstate construction and various other roadway construction projects throughout the St. Louis region.

One of Hitt's main responsibilities is serving as a coordinator between MoDOT and communities within his region, answering questions and concerns. He can be reached at (573)-243-0899.

Connie Lang has joined Special Effects Styling Salon, 2532 William, as a hair stylist.

Lang has more than 12 years of experience in the beauty industry. She is a graduate of Stage One, the Hair School in Cape Girardeau.

Dr. Anthony Zoffuto of Cape Girardeau has received a recognition award from the American Medical Association for continuing medical education.

Zoffuto, who graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1971 and completed his residency in internal medicine in 1976, is a board certified internist with Cape Girardeau Physician Associates, 14 Doctors' Park.

Zoffuto has completed the requirement of the AMA for the recognition award every three years since 1976.

Over the past 12 years, Zoffuto's graduate medical educaiton has been devoted to the areas of injury management, medical review officer services and safety in the workplace.

David Glastetter, Theresa Kern and Larry Underwood of ERA Cape Realty, 1409-A N. Mount Auburn Road, recently attended the ERA Real Estate International Business Conference at Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, Fla.

ERA, which is observing its 25th year in real estate, introduces its new logo and advertising campaign and its new re-designed Internet site for home buyers, http://www.ERAonline.com.

Angela Oberndorfer of Altenburg has been promoted to vice president at the Bank of Altenburg.

Oberndorfer joined the bank in 1989 and was named compliance officer in 1992.

Ann Swanson, manager of Gulliver's Travel Agency Inc., 2424 Kingsway Drive, has returned from an educational tour to Portugal and Indian.

Swanson joined her husband, Marvin, who had been in Southern India for five weeks with Rotary Club International.

She visited a palace and resort areas in Portugal and a number of museums in India, concluding the tour with a visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra.

Todd Kester, Dave Bangert and Tom Masterson have been promoted at Dana Corp.

Kester joined Dana in 1996. Bangert started at Dana in 1990 and Masterson started in 1991.

Chuck Thurman has been promoted to scheduler and Brenda Lair to quality engineer. Thurman joined the company in 1990, and Lair started in 1993.

Other promotions at Dana include Robert Schiwitz to the Gauge Control/Calibration department; Saul Aguila in the Met Lab department and Janet Schiwitz to B Shift Coordinator. Robert Schiwitz joined Dana in 1990, Aguila started in 1995 and Janet Schiwitz started in 1992.

Viola Robinson and Betty Nichols tied for 1996 "Employee of the Year" honors at Show-Me Rental Land.

Robinson has been with the company since 1984 and is now head of customer relations for Show Me and Beaver Janitor Supply. Nichols, who joined the company in 1992, is a counter representative for rentals, janitorial supplies and swimming pool supplies.

Robinson and Nichols were honored during a recent banquet and received a plaque and check from Bob Patterson, president of the company.

Jerry H. Burchyett of St. Charles, formerly of Cape Girardeau, has been named vice president of private label sales for Flowers Industries' Mrs. Smith's Bakeries Inc. retail group.

Burchyett's food industry career started in 1958 when he joined Chesty Potato Chip as a route salesman in Cape Girardeau. During the 1960s, he worked for Crafts Foods' offices in Cape Girardeau and St. Louis, as sales representative and supervisor. He joined Pet Inc. in St. Louis as national sales planning manager.

Fowlers' Industries, headquartered in Thomasville, Ga., acquired Pet Inc. in 1995 and Burchyett was appointed vice president of sales for Flowers' Aunt Fanny's Baker.

Charles L. Hanners of Jackson has completed continued educational requirements to maintain the designation, certified insurance counselor.

Hanners, a self-employed insurance agent and a 34-year veteran of the insurance industry, has been a CIC since 1981.

The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, headquartered at Austin, Texas, requires annual educational requirements for agents to main their CIC designation.

Lori Emmons of Elite Travel Inc., 354 S. Silver Springs Road, recently attended a weeklong familiarization trip to Las Vegas.

She visited various hotels, restaurants and entertainment events.
