The job cuts, disclosed last week, were the latest evidence of the online company's troubles as it continues to lose members in an intense competition with America Online and other rivals. The cuts leave the Columbus, Ohio-based company with about 3,200 employees and included people who create online content and market the service.

The disclosure comes one day after CompuServe posted a $14 million quarterly loss and three days after the resignation of its president and chief executive, Robert J. Massey.
