Herbert and Thelma Annis, owners of Century 21 Ashland Realty, recently attended the Century 21 Midwest Division St. Louis Region's year-end awards banquet in St. Louis.

Century 21 Real Estate Corp., a subsidiary of HFS Inc., has about 6,100 independently owned and operated franchised broker offices in the United States and 14 foreign countries.

Pamm Semmler of Cape Girardeau has joined Studio Design Beauty Salon at 229 Broadview Plaza.

Semmler has been a cosmetologist for six years and is a graduate of Stage One the Beauty School.

Studio Design is owned by Judy Watson.

Angie Arnold has joined Special Effect Styling Salon, 2532 William, as a hair stylist.

Salon owner Kim Talley announced Arnold's appointment recently.

Arnold has nine years of experience in the beauty business.

She has relocated to Cape Girardeau from Farmington, where she was a stylist at the Main Event Salon for six years. She is a graduate of Woodward Beauty Academy at Woodward, Okla.

Leslie Hueter of Elite Travel Inc., 354 S. Silver Springs Road, recently completed a cruise on Carnival Cruise Lines' "Ms. Sensation." She toured Old San Juan Puerto Rico.

She also participated in an island tour on St. Thomas.

Renee Tlapek has been recognized as "Outstanding Branch Manager of the Year" by Southwestern Bell Wireless.

Tlapek is one of four employees from the Cape Girardeau Location to receive awards for outstanding achievements during a special awards receptions held in St. Louis.

Everett Cassidy, Keith Daum and Carrie May received sales awards for achieving more than 100 percent of quota for the year.

Rick Sparks, business and industry specialist with the University of Missouri Extension, and Buz Sutherland of the Small Business Development Center of Southeast Missouri State University will be guest speakers at a small business workshop at Sikeston.

"How to Start and Manage a Small Business" will be the topic of a three-hour workshop from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Sikeston Vo-Tech School.

Topics will include new business start-up, buyout and franchising, financing of a new business, record keeping, and developing a business plan.

Cherie Stembel, customer service representative at Albrecht-Hodge Insurance Agency Inc., recently attended the certified Insurance Counselors Commercial Property Institute, held at St. Louis.

The three-day institute is one of five parts of the certified insurance counselors program offered by the Missouri Association of Insurance Agents. After completing the five institutes, Stembel will receive the designation CIC from the National Society of Certified Insurance Counselors.

Stembel has been in the insurance business for 13 years. She received a certified insurance service representative designation in 1991 from the Society of Certified Insurance Service Representatives. She was awarded the Insurance Achievement Award from Safeco Insurance Cos. in 1992.

Six Missourians have been elected to cotton leadership positions in the National Cotton Council during the group's annual meeting in Orlando, Fla.

Charles R. Earnest of Dolphin Gin Co. in Steele was elected president of the National Cotton Ginners Association. Earnest and Sikeston cooperative official John D. Hux Jr. were elected to the group's 35-member board of directors.

Charles H. Park, a Senath cotton producer, was re-elected vice chairman of the council's producer steering committee, and Sikeston producer John L. Sander was re-elected state producer chairman of the same committee.

Edward E. Dement, Sikeston cotton producer, was elected chairman of the NCC's Missouri-Illinois unit. Kenneth L. Berry of L. Berry Gin Co. at Holland is Missouri-Illinois unit secretary.

Kenneth E. Volkerding of Jackson has received membership in Lutheran Brotherhood's 1996 Presidents Club. The club is one of Lutheran Brotherhood's most prestigious sales honors, based on sale of insurance and investment products to Lutherans.

Volkerding is associated with the group's Harlan W. Pals Agency in St. Charles.

Lutheran Brotherhood offers a wide range fo financial products and services to Lutherans nationwide.

Jerry Tuschhoff of Huersons Implement recently attended the AGCO New Product and Update Training on White and Heston planters. The school involved classroom and hands-on training.

AGCP, a farm equipment company, owns Allis, White, Massey Ferguson, Agostar, Landini and Same tractors, and Hesston New Idea, Farmhand, Gleaner and White Planter equipment.

Amy Bagwell was winner of a seven-person "Wedding Tuxedo Party," presented by House of Brides, 238 N. Pacific.

The tuxeco party was a grand prize during House of Brides' January Bridal Blowout Celebration.

LaRue Brown of Cape Girardeau won a $300 gift certificated presented by Silk Tree Factory, 201 S. Broadview.

The Silk Tree Factory opened recently in Cape Girardeau.
