ACCIDENT KILLS IRONTON MAN

FREDERICKTOWN -- A 20-year-old Ironton man was killed Friday in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 72.

Brad Shanks, 20, was killed when his westbound car crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound car driven by Robert Rouse, 33, of Fredericktown.

Rouse was injured and taken to Madison Memorial Hospital in Fredericktown, the Missouri Highway Patrol said.

The accident occurred at 7:30 a.m., two miles west of Fredericktown. Neither motorist was wearing a seat belt.

Shanks was the 13th person killed in traffic accidents in the Troop E area of Southeast Missouri this year, the patrol said.
