This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "How do you feel about schools requiring students to wear school uniforms?"

Dallas Bradley, Cape Girardeau

"I don't think they should have to. I think they should be entitled to wear what they want to wear."

Gail McElfresh, Cape Girardeau

"I think it probably reduces the amount of peer pressure that children feel because not everyone can afford to dress their children on an equal level. I think it has to take some of the pressure off of them. On the other hand, it's just another choice you're losing. There's going to be pros and cons on either side."

"I don't like it. They had it back in the '50s and '60s, kind of, with girls wearing dresses only, and it wasn't right because it showed favoritism. I think everybody should be able to express themselves through clothes."

Doris Hilpert, Cape Girardeau

"Well, considering the way I've seen some of the kids dress, it might not be a bad idea. If you go back to when I was in school we had a dress code and it was rigid. Uniforms might not be a bad idea."

Abby Harris, Cape Girardeau

"I don't like it because at the school I went to before I moved here I had to wear uniforms. It's good in some ways because you don't have to worry about what you're going to wear in the morning, but it's kind of blah and it gets old and kind of boring."
