A half-day satellite workshop on "Building Leadership" will be held on the Southeast Missouri State University campus Wednesday.

The session will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Lynn Dempster Auditorium of the Rosemary Crisp Hall.

It is open to the public at no charge. Those interested in attending should call Jane Kelley at 651-2558 and leave a message.

Ted Gaebler, co-author of the best seller, "Reinventing Government" will lead the workshop. He has advised elected officials and government leaders on installing entrepreneurial practices in government.

Gaebler will discuss the nine skills of an entrepreneurial leader:

-- Rebuilding organizations around customers.

-- Focusing on outcomes, not inputs

-- Encouraging waivers and exceptions

-- Creating an environment for "outside the box" thinking

-- Challenging the rules

Because the satellite workshop falls over the lunch hour, participants are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch. Coffee, soda and water will be provided.

The opening session will also review the six workshops sponsored by the Entrepreneurial Government Workshop in 1996 and will provide an overview of sessions planned in 1997.
