Students who operate a bona fide business and are in the 12th grade during the 1996-97 school year are eligible to receive tuition scholarships from Johnson & Wales University for its sixth annual National Outstanding High School Entrepreneur Contest.
To be considered, the student may self-nominate or be nominated by a guidance counselor or principal, then submit a business plan.
In recent years, finalists have included teenage owners of lawn care businesses, dance schools, boat detailing businesses, caterers, publishers, farmers, entertainers, seamstresses, computer programmers/technicians and graphic designers.
Deadline for nominations is Jan. 6, 1997.
