To go "Cruising on the Mississippi" you might need the latest in fall fashions. So the Zonta Club in Cape Girardeau is planning its 18th annual fashion show to highlight the latest trends. The fashion show will be held Sept. 30 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center. It begins at 7:15 p.m., but doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner. All proceeds from the event will be used to fight illiteracy...

To go "Cruising on the Mississippi" you might need the latest in fall fashions. So the Zonta Club in Cape Girardeau is planning its 18th annual fashion show to highlight the latest trends.

The fashion show will be held Sept. 30 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center. It begins at 7:15 p.m., but doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner. All proceeds from the event will be used to fight illiteracy.

Along the river cruise, models will wear clothes associated with river activities. They will be wearing fashions from Hecht's, Sandy's, Children's Bazaar, All-American Kids, Doncaster, Chrisman Outfitter's and Hartford's.

Some of the featured river locations include Minnesota, where the Mississippi River begins; St. Louis; Memphis and New Orleans.

Zonta is an international women's organization. The local chapter focuses on literacy programs and has raised $10,000 yearly for the programs.

About 350 people are expected to attend the 18th annual event. Tickets must be purchased by Sept. 25.
