Caring Communities will sponsor another "Walk the Walk" asset mapping survey next week.

Volunteers are needed again for door-to-door surveys Saturday, Sept. 28 of residents in neighborhoods in the northern and northwestern sections of Cape Girardeau.

Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. at Franklin Elementary School, 215 N. Louisiana, for training and breakfast.

Surveys will be taken from 9 to noon and 1 to 4, with a noon break at the school for lunch.

The surveys will catalog information about strengths and resources available in neighborhoods, community leaders and other such issues, said Ellen Knight, one of the organizers of the asset mapping.

Next week's survey will be the third in a series of neighborhood surveys.

The information is being compiled and will be used to identify gaps in services and how those gaps may be filled.

Volunteers should preregister by calling 651-3747. Volunteers may designate a charity or non-profit organization to receive a $40 donation for the day of volunteered time.

Those who can only work a half-day may designate a $20 donation to the group of their choice.
