He has served the law enforcement community of Cape Girardeau County by lecturing about criminal and constitutional law to the police departments in Cape Girardeau and Jackson. He has donated much of his time and legal advice and has, free of charge, written wills and powers of attorneys for officers in the county.

"I have always felt tremendously indebted to the law enforcement officers of our county for the excellent job that they do for little pay, long hours and few thanks," McManaman said. "The only thing they get is their own personal satisfaction for a job well done."

He and his wife, Carol, have lived in the county since 1978. The couple have three children, Evan, Kinsey and Kierin, who are enrolled in the Jackson R-2 School District.
