This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "The City Council is considering either amending the days fireworks can be shot, banning fireworks from being shot or leaving the ordinance intact, which states fireworks may be shot from June 20 to July 4. What do you think the City Council should do?

Leslie Phillips, Cape Girardeau

"I guess it's OK the way it is. I think it gives the kids some fun, and it makes it legal. People are going to use them (fireworks) anyway, and I think to have it be OK to do it they should keep it that way."

Charles Rouse, Cape Giarardeau

"I say reduce it ... reduce the time that fireworks can be used ... and I think the time ... who wants to hear fireworks in evening or early in the morning."

Stan Garner, Cape Girardeau

"I think they just ought to leave it the way it is because it's been that way for a while and everybody's been able to live with it. I feel like there is too many laws anyway."

Erin Phillips, Cape Girardeau

"Leave it. Because if you shorten it that's not enough time to buy fireworks and shoot them off."

Aysha Hency, Cape Girardeau

"I think it's pretty fine the way it is. I like to shoot fireworks a lot."
