The local chapter of the American Association of University Women wants to distribute free copies of a biography of Missouri women to all fourth-grade classrooms in Southeast Missouri.

"Show Me Missouri Women" provides biographical material about nearly 200 significant Missouri women from pioneer through modern times. It includes more than 100 photographs.

Also featured in the book is a variety of other writings such as "Women in Colonial Missouri: Red, White and Black," "Missouri Women who Received U.S. Patents in the 19th Century," and "Nancy Cruzan's Legacy."

In addition, a study guide has also been developed that should aid teachers in using the book.

The book was co-written by Mary K. Dains and Sue Sadler. Dains is a retired associate director of the State Historical Society of Missouri and associate editor of the Missouri Historical Review. Sadler has taught at both the high school and college level and has served as a newspaper feature writer.
