St. Francis Medical Center will offer an asthma self-management class starting Oct. 17.

The class is geared toward children, adults and the parents of asthmatic children how to effectively manage the disease.

The class will meet from 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Oct. 17, and again on Oct. 24, Oct. 31 and Nov. 7.

Classes will meet on the lower level of the hospital's Otto Pavilion.

Patients will be provided with medication action plans completed according to their physician's instructions, said Lois Schade, class instructor.
