The Southeast Missourian asked people how they viewed the St. Louis Cardinals' postseason opportunity.

Jim Brandenburg: "I think they have a great manager in Tony La Russa, but I don't think they will win in the World Series. When they come up against Atlanta, that's when they are going to lose. I don't think the Cardinals have the pitching that Atlanta has."

Steve Schlick: "If the pitching staff is healthy and if the Cardinals can hit the ball at key times, they have a good chance of winning the division playoffs. With the World Series, they're as good as anybody in baseball right now. I give them a 70 percent chance of doing well."

Roger Niswonger: "I think the Cardinals have a better chance than they have had in years. I think they are playing the best baseball they've played since `Whiteyball.' They have a good pitching staff, some excellent hitting and good fielders. They have a good chance."

Mary Beussink: "I think they will go all the way. I think they are doing a good job. Their pitchers have done well and their big hitters have come through when they needed them. The Braves will be tough, but I think the Cardinals have a good team."

Todd Reiminger: "One thing that would concern me would be the pitching depth of the Cardinals if they come up against Atlanta's powerhouse pitching staff. If they can get past that, I think the Cardinals have an excellent chance of winning the World Series."
