Dr. Robert Gifford, professor of music and secondary education at Southeast Missouri State University, will return to the Ukraine Oct. 13 for a week of teaching and conducting in Lviv.

This will be Gifford's second consecutive year to make the trip to Lviv. During his week-long stay next month, Gifford will conduct a workshop on techniques of conducting for students at the Lviv Music College and Music Institute. He will conduct a second workshop for future military conductors within the University Lviv Politechnic.

Gifford also will have the opportunity to conduct two rehearsals and a concert for the professional Lviv I. Franko Opera and Ballet Theatre and a workshop for the student wind orchestra at Drohobych College.

Gifford has been invited to return to the Ukraine because of his interest in world music and through his affiliation with the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles.

Lviv, which means City of the Lion, has a population of about 800,000.
