SIKESTON -- A coalition of farm groups voiced support Friday for 8th District independent/Republican congressional candidate Jo Ann Emerson.

"The Nov. 5 election will be very important to Missouri agriculture and it is important that the media and the public know that the major commodity, livestock and agribusiness groups here in southern Missouri are behind Jo Ann Emerson's candidacy," said Farm Bureau President Charles Kruse.

Representatives of cattlemen, pork producers, corn growers, the Soybean Merchandising Council, National Cotton Council, National Rice Council and Heartland Forest Products also voiced support for Emerson.
