Construction activity in Missouri was up 68 percent in November and 14 percent for the year.

The F.W. Dodge Division of McGraw-Hill, an authority on the construction market, reported construction for November at $671,796,000, up from $399,235,000 in November 1994.

The state's November nonresidential construction, which includes commercial, manufacturing and other buildings not designed for shelter, was $382,783,000, up from the $145,285,000 figures of November 1994.

Residential construction was $207,277,000, down 4 percent from the $215,813,000 in November 1994.

Nonbuilding construction, which includes streets, highways, bridges, river and harbor developments, airports and a few other projects, was $81,736,000 for November, up from the $38,137,000 during November 1994.

Construction for the first 11 months was up 14 percent at $5.99 billion, compared to $5.2 billion a year ago.

Nonresidential construction through November was $2.6 billion, up 45 percent from the $1.8 billion for the first 11 months of 1994; residential construction was reported at $2.2 billion, down 12 percent from the $2.5 billion of 1994; and nonbuilding was reported at $1.2 billion, 23 percent more than the $953 million of 1994.
