MEMO: STEAK-N-SHAKE OPENS ITS 200TH RESTAURANT

Steak-n-Shake has opened its 200th restaurant.

The new restaurant in Hazelwood is the 40th Steak-n-Shake in the St. Louis area.

Steak-n-Shake, which includes restaurants in Cape Girardeau and Paducah, Ky., plans to add another 400 restaurants over the next five years.

Consolidated Products of Indianapolis is the parent company of Steak-n-Shake.

Steak-n-Shake was founded in 1934 with a steakburger restaurant in Normal, Ill. The company reported a 26 percent gain in sales during the second quarter, ending April 10, at $83.4 million. Net earnings for the quarter, $2.8 million, were up 44 percent.
