Rick Bandermann of Marble Hill and Kathy Bertrand of Cape Girardeau have received promotions at Boatmen's National Bank of Cape Girardeau.

Banderman, who joined Boatmen's in 1993 as an investment officer in Jackson and started serving the Cape Girardeau area in 1995, has been named assistant vice president of Boatmen's Investment Services.

Banderman's new responsibilities include retail brokerage accounts, IRA's and other retirement plans. He started his financial service career in 1985 as an account representative with Pension Consultants Inc. He joined Griffin Financial Services as a registered representative in 1988.

Bertrand, who joined Boatmen's in 1985 in the mortgage loan service, has been promoted to vice president. She was promoted to assistance vice president in 1988 before becoming a commercial loan officer in 1992.

Bertrand is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. She previously worked for Drury Industries.

Alice Sydow, a junior majoring in business administration at Southeast Missouri State University, has been selected as on-campus representative for Central States Coca-Cola Bottling Co. at Jackson.

Central States is introducing the University Campus Representative Program this fall.

Sydow will introduce sales and presence of Coca-Cola on and off the campus. She will conduct and sponsor special events as well as recommend marketing ideas and activities.

Sydow is active in campus events and organizations. She is a member of Delta Delta Delta social sorority, and EmPower, a new program on campus to help create awareness and increase consciousness of issue pertaining to women. She is a graduate of the Emerging Leaders program and plans to join the marketing club.

Linda Wiggins has been promoted to director of education at Sylvan Learning Center.

Wiggins, who previously served as an instructor at the center, will oversee training and performance of instruction, along with testing and writing instructional programs for students.

The new director of education must be certified by the state as well as Sylvan Learning Corp. The Sylvan Learning Center here is one of more than 600 Sylvan centers nationally.

Ross Austin has joined Van Matre Buick, 511 S. Kingshighway, as a salesmen.

Austin of Whitewater has more than 15 years experience in sales. He previously worked with Auto Trim Design and Computer Plus.

Cape Girardeau ophthalmologist Dr. Charles H. Cozean Jr. and his staff recently conducted a certifying course for ophthalmologists to qualify them in the use of the VISX Excimer Laser for treatment of nearsightedness.

Ophthalmologists from Missouri, Kentucky and Illinois attended the sessions.

Cozean has offices at 56 Doctors' Park.

Dr. Mark Kasten of Cape Girardeau has completed continuing medical education requirements to retain active membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians, the national association of family doctors.

Members are required to complete a minimum of 150 hours of accredited continuing medical study every three years. The organization, which has more than 75,000 members, is one of the largest medical specialty groups in the country.

Kasten has been a member since 1980.

Jana Jateff of Cape Girardeau, a senior sales director for Mary Kay Cosmetics, and Mary Heisserer, Stephanie Stockard and Laurie White recently attended the Mary Kay seminar at Dallas.

Customer service, new product and selling techniques were discussed at the meeting.

The Jateff unit was recently recognized during an area awards banquet as the most improved area unit.

Eddie Rhodes has joined Cape Girardeau Motors, 1754 Independence, as a salesman.

Rhodes of Cape Girardeau has more than 14 years sales experience, two of them in the auto sales industry.

Ed Mueller, Cape Girardeau VFW Post 3838 commander, and a number of the post's members who attended the VFW National Convention in Louisville, Ky., will report on the convention Saturday.

Among those attending the national meeting were Calvin Vogelsang, Charles Thrower, Floyd Smith and Max Stovall.

The delegation will discuss the national organization's agenda during a special VFW Post 3838 annual membership roundup Saturday.

Dr. Dessy Boneva has joined Kessinger Specific Chiropractic, 1424 Kurre Lane.

Boneva, a native of Bulgaria, is a graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic. She attended Southeast Missouri State University prior to enrolling at Logan, where she received her bachelor's degree in human biology and doctorate in chiropractic.

Troy L. Wilson, president of First National Bank of Sikeston, has been appointed to a one-year term to serve as treasurer of the Missouri Bankers Association (MBA).

He was appointed to the state post by MBA chairman Stephen R. Green, president and CEO of the New Era Bank of Fredericktown.

Wilson has been with First National Bank since 1985, and had served as the bank's vice president, executive vice president and president.

He is a graduate of University of Oklahoma, with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He also graduated from the Graduate School of Banking of the South.
