Dan Mehan, vice president of governmental affairs for the Missouri Chamber of Commerce, will be guest speaker at the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce's First Friday Coffee, to be held at the Show Me Center, Friday at 7:30 a.m.

Mehan's will discuss Proposition A, which will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot.

Proposition A, more commonly known as the Missouri Minimum Wage Bill, could raise the state's minimum wage to $6.25 an hour starting Jan. 1, 1997. It would increase the wage to $6.50 in 1998, $6.75 in 1999, and includes a an automatic adjustment of 15 cents an hour each year thereafter.

Mehan will discuss the economic effects the bill could have on Missouri businesses.
