MAIN STREET FITNESS PLANS OPEN HOUSE ON SUNDAY

An open house will be held at Main Street Fitness, 410 W. Main in Jackson Sunday.

Tours of the fitness center will be conducted. The event will also include demonstrations, screening, educational materials, refreshments and door-prize drawings, including a $500 savings bond from Boatmen's Bank and a one-year Main Street Fitness membership.

Southeast Missouri Hospital, which is conducting the open house, assumed ownership of the 3-year-old fitness center in early July, and has been working to expand fitness and educational programs there.

The center offers "all the amenities of a top-notch health club," said Debbie Leoni, director of Southeast's Fitness and Wellness program.

A number of individual and family membership options are available. Facilities include weight room, racquetball court, 1/16-mile banked track for walking and running, aerobics room, a variety of cardiovascular equipment and locker rooms, and an on-site child care center.

Also in the Main Street complex is the hospital's Jackson Outreach Services, which moved there earlier this month. The outreach services were previoulsy across from the Jackson Wal-Mart.

RESOLUTION TRUST CORP. ENDS COLONIAL RECEIVERSHIP

The Resolution Trust Corp. has announced it is terminating its receivership for Colonial Savings Loan Association of Cape Girardeau, which was closed more than five years ago.

The RTC, appointed "receiver" for the loan association on Jan. 26, 1990, by the Office of Thrift Supervision, Department of U.S. Treasury, announced in a special legal notice last week that it will be making its final dividend distribution within 30 days.

The RTC has continuously engaged in liquidation of the assets of the receivership since the date of closing by Colonial Federal.

If any person wants to object to the termination of Colonial Savings, that such objects should be sent within 30 days to Resolution Trust Corporation, Receiver for Security Federal Savings I Loans, Attn: Termination Coordinator, 500 W. Monroe, 34th Floor, Chicago, Ill., 60661.

MAGNA TEL EARNS AWARD FOR 1995 BUSINESS PROMOTION

Magna-Tel Inc., a Cape Girardeau screen printing company, has been named a winner in the 1995 Business Promotion Awards Competition, by the Screenprinting & Graphic Imaging Association International (SGIA), headquartered in Fairfax, Va.

The local company received "Awards of Excellence" in two categories -- Audio Visual and Promotional Effort Between $500 and $1,000.

Magna-Tel's entry will be displayed during the SGIA's 47th annual Convention & Exposition in November, at Los Angeles.

MISSOURI REALTORS PLAN CONVENTION IN SEPTEMBER

The Missouri Association of Realtors (MAR) will hold its 1995 convention at the Lodge of the Four Seasons at Lake Ozarks Sept. 17 through 22.

Three big gala events are on the convention schedule -- a "Tailgate Party" Sept. 19, which will include a scavenger hunt; the "Mardi Gras Party" Sept. 20, including the Mardi Gras costume contest, and the "Inauguration and Dance," where realtors will bid farewell to 1995 president Thomas M. Meyer, of Cape Girardeau, and welcome 1996 president Fred Kratky, along with other officers and directors of MAR.

"Mission Impossible Resource Show," a promotional products resource show, will be held Aug. 29, at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

D&K WHOLESALE DRUG INC. NET SALES UP SUBSTANTIALLY

D&K Wholesale Drug Inc. of St. Louis announced net sales of $110 million during the first quarter of its 1996 fiscal year, ending June 30, up 83 percent from the same period a year ago. Net earnings were $34,000 or 1 cent a share for the quarter, down from $261,000 or 11 cents a share during the same three months a year ago.

"We anticipated that the first quarter of fiscal 1995 would be a challenging period for D&K," said J. Hord Armstrong III, chairman and chief executive officer. Due to acquisitions of the Northern Drug Co. and Twin City Wholesale Drug Inc., the company is operating four distribution centers instead of the two last year.

"Once we consolidate the Duluth and Minneapolis distribution centers into one center in October, we expect significant improvement in operations results," he said.

The company has also announced plans to buy a 50 percent interest in Pharmaceutical Buyers Inc. of Boulder Colo., with a possible September closing date.

D&K Wholesale Drug Inc. is a full-service, regional wholesale distributor, supplying customers from facilities in Cairo, Ill.; Lexington, Ky.; and Duluth and Minneapolis.
