McDonald's Corp. and Amoco Corp. have announced they are expanding plans to open joint food and gasoline outlets throughout the country.

The two companies currently operate 12 locations throughout Illinois, Indiana and Michigan and plan to open more in the Midwest, mid-Atlantic, north central and southeastern United States, the companies said.

They did not specify how many locations were planned. Chicago-based Amoco would operate gas stations and convenience stores, while Oak Brook-based McDonald's would operate restaurants.
