Paint expert to speak at SEMO

A nationally known expert on historic paint colors will present a program May 11 at Southeast Missouri State University in conjunction with National Historic Preservation Week May 7-13.

John Crosby Freeman, known as "The Color Doctor," will present the program at 7 p.m. in Crisp Hall Room 125.

Freeman writes for The Old House Journal, Victorian Homes and other nationally published magazines and books, and has appeared on PBS.

The Norristown, Pa., man is a consultant on traditional designs and colors, having worked for individuals, corporations, museums, historic districts and Main Street Programs.

Freeman's visit is being sponsored by Lowe's of Cape Girardeau. Co-sponsors are the Historic Preservation Association, Historic Preservation Program and human environmental studies department at Southeast Missouri State University.

Freeman is willing to provide personal consultations to home and business owners in Cape Girardeau during his visit.

He has produced more than 50 republications of important 19th and 20th century books on domestic architecture, decorative arts, landscape design, graphic arts and popular culture for American Life Books.
