Tenor Christopher Goeke will present a recital of works for voice and piano Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Old St. Vincent's Church.

Goeke is an assistant professor of voice and opera at Southeast Missouri State University.

The centerpiece of the evening will be "Winter Words," a song cycle by Benjamin Britten based on poems by Thomas Hardy.

Goeke also will sing Beethoven's "Adelaide," "An die Hoffnung" and "Der Kuss," all in German, and three songs by Italian composer Ermano Wolf-Ferrari. The latter combine characteristics of the operatic aria and popular folk songs.

John Shelton, a music professor at the university, will provide accompaniment.

Admission is $4 general, $2 for seniors and students, and free with a university ID.
