DYERSBURG, Tenn. -- The Dyersburg News, a 17,000 circulation free weekly publication, will be launched by Rust Communications next week. DYERSBURG, Tenn. -- The Dyersburg News, a 17,000 circulation free weekly publication, will be launched by Rust Communications next week.

The first issue of the new paper will be distributed Wednesday.

Christ Rimel, who has worked with three other Rust Communications newspapers -- Dexter Statesman, Daily American Republic of Poplar Bluff and most recently, Southeast Missourian at Cape Girardeau, will be editor/general manager of the new publication. Jon Rust is consultant for the publication.

Most employees for the new publication will be hired from the immediate area, but a number of Rust Communications associates are assisting in the initial launch.

Rust Communications is the largest non-metropolitan daily and weekly newspaper group in Missouri, comprising four Southeast Missouri daily newspapers (The Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, the Dexter Statesman, the Daily Democrat in Kennett and the Southeast Missourian in Cape Girardeau) and one Northern Arkansas daily (the Courier News at Blytheville), and total of 10 weekly publications in Northern Arkansas and Southeast Missouri, including the Caruthersville newspaper, across the Mississippi River from Dyersburg. The Dyersburg News will be the 11th weekly.

The first Rust Communications daily newspaper was acquired 12 years ago.
