HISTORIC SITES RECEPTION SET

A reception honoring two new sites named to the National Register of Historic Places will be held Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mollie's Garden, 11 S. Spanish.

The two-story home of Drs. Mary Ann and Bert Kellerman at 6 N. Fountain and the Alliance building, site of Mollie's, were placed on the register July 22. The Kellermans own both buildings.

It is the first time two Cape Girardeau sites have been put on the list at the same time.

The 112-year-old Kellerman house sits atop a hill just east of City Hall. The Alliance building, an 89-year-old structure built around 1905, is the only pressed-metal-front structure remaining in the city.

In addition, the Cape Girardeau Historic Preservation Commission will honor these sites on the list: Longview, the Thilenius House, 100 Longview Place; Oliver-Leming House, 740 North St.; Glenn House, 325 S. Spanish; James Reynolds House, 623 N. Main; St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 131 S. Main; and Hanover Lutheran Church, 2949 Perryville Rd.
