Awards were presented Saturday at the annual flower show sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Council of Garden Clubs. The show was held at Centenary United Methodist Church and followed the theme "In the Good Old Summertime" and had 24 entries in the artistic division and 197 entries in the horticulture competition...

Awards were presented Saturday at the annual flower show sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Council of Garden Clubs.

The show was held at Centenary United Methodist Church and followed the theme "In the Good Old Summertime" and had 24 entries in the artistic division and 197 entries in the horticulture competition.

Top awards in the artistic division included one for creativity and the sweepstake award to Edna Ruth Fischer, and a tri-color award to Toni Arnold.

Top horticulture awards were the Sweepstakes Award to Carol Koehler, Horticultural Excellence to Kathy Raines, Arboreal Award to Anne Foust, and Awards of Merit to Ann Crites, Marlene Osburn and Hannah Maddox.

Blue-ribbon winners for artistic design: "Shady Lane" by Charlyn Robinson, "Picnic" by Tammy Bohnert, "I love a parade" by Toni Arnold, "A bicycle built for two" by Edna Ruth Fischer, "Thunder and Lightening" by Nadine Davis, "Summer sunset" by Edna Ruth Fischer.

Blue-ribbon winners for horticulture: Charlyn Robinson, Nadine Davis, Anne Foust, Hannah Maddox, Carol Koehler, Marilyn Garner, Julie Briney, Edna Ruth Fischer, Bernice Osborn, Ann Crites, Kathy Raines and Delilah Taylor.

The Council of Garden Clubs is made up of the five Cape Girardeau horticulture organizations that have sponsored a standard flower show for the past 35 years.

The flower show continues today from noon to 3 at the church.
