Trail of Tears State Park has established new hours for the visitors center based on a three-year study of when people visit.

November through March, the center will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. It will be closed Mondays through Thursdays except for groups with appointments.

April through September, the center will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.

In October, the center will be open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. It will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays except for groups with appointments.

Greg Henson, assistant park superintendent, said the new schedule should make more park personnel available when visitors are at the center.
