"We feel like it's important to teach children how to properly handle and shoot a gun," said Jaycee Kevin Payne, coordinator of the event.

The courses run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. beginning Feb. 12 and will continue for six consecutive Sundays. They will be held at the Jackson Knights of Columbus Hall.

"Basically what we'll be doing is teaching the kids safety, proper firearms handling and how to shoot," said Payne. "We'll be using Daisy BB guns and the kids will be shooting every night.

"The kids will be supervised and there will be an adult Jaycee on hand to supervise each child."
