The Cape Girardeau Public Schools are currently conducting kindergarten preregistration for the 1995-96 school year. Parents may preregister children for kindergarten at the elementary school in their attendance area between now and May 25.
Children must be 5 before July 1 to enroll in kindergarten for next school. Copies of the child's official birth certificate and immunization record are needed at the time of enrollment. It is not necessary to bring the child for enrollment. School offices are generally open between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each school day.
Preregistration is important so the district can plan for appropriate space and class-size. The district wants parents to make every effort to enroll children for next school year.
Regular "spring roundup" days will also be scheduled in late April at most schools. Parents need not attend roundup if they have already registered their child.
