Fifth-graders in the Explore gifted class at L.J. Schultz School earned first-place honors in the Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl.
Students placed first in the fifth-grade division and first overall, beating all fifth- and sixth-grade teams.
The contest, completed on computer, awards points based on accuracy and speed of response.
The fifth-grade team scored 1,232 points of a possible 1,500 and answered 95 percent of the questions correctly.
Team members are Alicia Barks, O'Keith Bell, Chrysteen Enlow, Nicholas Ervin, Nathan Foley, Cassie Frazier, Hannah Griesemer, Eric Lynch, Carrie McClard, Michael Mercer, Jocelyn O'Malley, Cory Popp, Neil Randol, Ashley Rust, Timothy Showers and Jessica Summary.
