Jean-Louis Levaux will discuss the French educational system and student life in France Wednesday in the next installment of Southeast Missouri State University's "Travel Abroad At Home Lecture Series."

Levaux, a 1994 graduate of Rennes University in Brittany, is working on a program that will qualify him to teach foreign civilizations. He is enrolled in literature, civilization and political science courses at Southeast, and is tutoring 25 American students in French.

Speakers in the series address the audience in their native tongue. Translations are provided.

Dieter Jedan, chairman of the department of foreign languages, calls that "a cultural experience. People are learning what different foreign languages sound like. Hopefully, we are tuning their ears to different languages. We are trying to give them an authentic experience."

Levaux will speak from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Crisp Hall Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public. Free pizza and soft drinks are provided.
