The stage is set with clowns, games and prizes for the annual "Children's Fun Fest" to be held Saturday, April 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the R.O. Hawkins Junior High School gymnasium.

The event is hosted by the Jacksonian Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association.

Children will make "high finance" deals at a pretend bank, then groom and plume at the Stage One Beauty Shop booth. Precious Memories will supply more fun with fantastic dress-ups. The Gingerbread House will have a duck pond with a Disney theme and prizes. Everyone can enjoy a family experience with bingo sponsored by Val's Upholstery. Other exciting booths will include Southeast Hospital's Fit Kids booth, a booth sponsored by St. Francis Medical Center and facepainting by Cape Girardeau Area Safekids.

Some items featured in drawings include a bicycle, a night out in Jackson and tickets to Six Flags.

Drawings for children and adults will be held hourly. A few of the sponsors and gifts include T-shirts, Iron Mountain Railroad tickets, bowling games, beauty salon services, and certificates from Subway, Pizza Hut and other area restaurants. Proceeds from the Children's Fun Fest will go to fund ABWA scholarship programs.

The event is open to the public. There is no general admission charge. Children will pay 10 to 80 cents for each activity booth with play money purchased by their parents at the central admission center. Refreshments and light lunch fare will also be included.
