Officials at the Disaster Recovery Assistance Center were somewhat surprised to see only two visitors stop by during the first four hours Thursday.

"We thought more people might stop by, but maybe that just means there aren't that many questions about the status of individual claims," said Jack Haley, Federal Emergency Management Agency public information officer.

The mobile unit will be at Arena Park again today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Haley said both people who stopped by the mobile unit Thursday inquired about the status of their Small Business Administration loans.

The mobile unit is equipped with a cellular telephone and a laptop computer to check on the status of individual claims.

Flood victims can find out how long it will take to receive assistance and whether additional information about their claim is needed.

"All we need is the control number, which is given to an individual when he or she makes a claim, and we can call up the case to see where it is at this time," Haley said.
