Early pioneer of Amateur Radio in Southeast Missouri Phil Leible communicates across the country in Morse Code. More than 60 years in Amateur Radio, Leible has trained and communicated with thousands of operators throughout the U.S.

A number of local radio operators worked recently contacting other radio operators throughout the U.S. to fine tune their radios so they are up and ready in case they are needed under difficult emergency situations.

Radio Field Day was held as a part of the Radio Organization which was been effective in establishing emergency communications during floods, hurricanes, fires, earthquakes and other major disasters.

The local radio group consist of some 84 members from Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois. They meet monthly in the Emergency Preparedness Office in Jackson on the first Monday of each month.
