POPLAR BLUFF -- Two Poplar Bluff police officers were injured Friday afternoon, one critically, when they collided with each while responding to the same dispatch.

Officer Fred Landwersiek was flown to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau following the accident about 1:30 p.m. He was listed in stable condition Saturday afternoon.

The other officer, Joel Door, was treated and released from Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff.

A spokesman for the Poplar Bluff Police Department said Landwersiek and Door were both responding to a domestic disturbance call in progress when they collided at the intersection of Alice and Garfield. He said both squad cars were totaled.
