Joyce Seyer, Cynthia King and Sister Mary Ann Fischer, SSND of Notre Dame High School were selected as one of 10 teams of Catholic School educators from across the country who met at the University Dayton July 8-11 for the New Frontiers for Catholic Schools IV Conference. The four-day learning opportunity was co-sponsored by the National Catholic Educational Association and the University of Dayton.

Founded in 1992, the New Frontiers programs is designed to prepare Catholic school educators to become leaders in the development of more effective models of teaching and learning through enhancement of curriculum with emerging technologies.

Co-directors of the program were Regina Haney, OSF, executive director of NCEA's National Association of Boards of Catholic Education, and Angela Ann Zukowski, MHSH, executive director of the Center for Religious Telecommunications at the University of Dayton.

The New Frontiers program is divided into two parts -- the summer conference and two teleconferences in February and April. During the summer conference, the Catholic school educators developed long-range technological plans for their schools. Leading practitioners were on hand to offer guidance and to discuss their own technological achievements.

The first objective of the Notre Dame technology plan is to create a Technology Committee consisting of teachers, students and parents. This ongoing committee will research, advise, and give direction to the school's efforts to integrate technology into the curriculum.
