JACKSON -- The Jackson Municipal Band will perform its last weekly summer concert at 8 p.m. Thursday in the city park. Special guests are Mr. and Mrs. Bob King. JACKSON -- The Jackson Municipal Band will perform its last weekly summer concert at 8 p.m. Thursday in the city park.

Special guests are Mr. and Mrs. Bob King. King is known as one of the premier old-style country fiddlers. For many years, he and his wife, Geneva, traveled across the Midwest performing in a country band. Although they are retired, they still perform for picnics, dances and King competes in country fiddling contests.

The band's portion of the concert will include "At the Gremlin Ball," "Red Mill," "Pride of the Wolverines," "Ramah" and selections from the musical "The Sound of Music."

On Aug. 10, the band will hold a concert to commemorate its 75th anniversary. The concert will be held in the little gazebo on the courthouse lawn and will feature special guests and activities. The final 1995 appearance of the band wil be Aug. 15 at the opening of the Jackson Homecomers.
