Jason McBride, a private first class in the U.S. Marine Corps, received his first promotion because of becoming an Eagle Scouts in the Boy Scouts of America.

After graduating from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, McBride was presented with a National Defense ribbon and crossed rifle medallion.

He also received a diploma from the Naval Corrections Academy and works as a military police corrections specialist in Parris Island, S.C.

McBride is a 1994 graduate of Cape Central High School and is the son of Glenn and Madelein McBride of Cape Girardeau.
