The annual Walktoberfest, a special walk-a-thon held by the Missouri affiliate of the American Diabetes Association, is expected to attract more than 300 walkers and raise a projected $10,000 for medical research aimed at finding a cure for diabetes.

The event will be held at Cape Girardeau County Park (north) Saturday, Sept. 30. Registration will begin at 9 a.m.; the walk will at 10. Walktoberfest will benefit the more than 20,000 people in Southeast Missouri and nearly 14 million nationwide.
