SHERIFFS' GROUP TO GIVE SCHOLARSHIP

Applications for the John Dennis Scholarship, awarded by the Missouri Sheriffs' Association, are available.

The $1,000 scholarship is named for former state senator John Dennis, a retired sheriff of Scott County.

The award will be presented to a college-bound high school senior who plans to pursue a career in criminal justice. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, be in the upper 50 percent of their graduating class and be active in extracurricular activities.

Students interested in applying for the scholarship may contact the Missouri Sheriffs' Association, 229 Madison, Jefferson City, Mo. 65101, to obtain an application. The application should be returned by Jan. 31.
