The Cape Girardeau Salvation Army is collecting cleaning supplies for people affected by flooding in Georgia and other areas hit by hurricane Alberto.

A truck will be parked at Schnucks, 19 S. Kingshighway, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., today through Saturday.

"It is now time for the Heartland to respond to our neighbors in the South who are having the same experience with the water as we did in 1993," said Capt. Elmer Trapp of the Salvation Army.

The organization asks for donations of paper goods, bleach, liquid cleaner, buckets, mops, brooms, shovels, rakes, cleansers, soap powder, sponges, rubber gloves and other cleaning supplies.
