A group calling for the resignation of Cape Girardeau Superintendent Neyland Clark has extended a petition drive through the weekend.

Amy Randol of the group will mail copies of petitions to Cape Girardeau Board of Education members Monday.

The group met Thursday to gather petitions, but some people didn't attend the meeting. Organizers decided to continue collection of signatures through the weekend.

Randol said signatures haven't been counted yet.

Randol and Terry Ashby of the group had requested a spot on the August school board meeting agenda to present the board with the petitions.

They received a letter from board President Ed Thompson asking that input concerning the superintendent be given in advance of an Aug. 5-7 retreat in St. Louis.
