The telethon, broadcast by KFVS-12, will be hosted by news anchor Mary Ann Maloney and sports director Randy Ray.

The telethon will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 5 and run until 6:30 p.m. The national portion of the telethon, which is 30 minutes each hour, will be produced at the Sahara Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The national portion will conclude at 5 p.m.

The hourly local segments will originate from University Mall near the Food Court in front of the J.C. Penney store in Carbondale, Ill., and the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.

Local segments will begin at 9:10 a.m. on Monday.

Volunteers are needed in Cape Girardeau and Carbondale to answer calls for telethon pledges in three-hour shifts from 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Monday. More volunteers will be needed to assist as mailroom workers, tabulators and in other capacities at both sites.

The telethon will run uninterrupted until 6:30 p.m.
