FRUIT OF STUDENTS' LABOR ON DISPLAY AT GALLERY 100

The fruit of art students' summer workshop labor will be on display at Gallery 100 throughout the month of September. Students ages 6-16 participated in the Arts Summer Workshops.

The exhibit will open on Sept. 7 and remain on display through Sept. 30, with regular gallery hours of 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. These exhibits are having closing rather than opening receptions to enable the children to take their work home when the exhibits end. Gallery 100 is located at 1707 Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau.

Imagine Art was the theme for the 1994 Summer Art Workshops. Four phases of the summer art program were offered under the direction of Carol Horst and Brenda Seyer.

The Shapes of Images segment explored sculptural forms. Exploring Images focused on drawing using a variety of media. Rainbow of Images brought out the use of color. Illustrating Images incorporated design, lettering and cartooning.

The classes, under the auspices of the Southeast Missouri State University's Art Department, were filled to capacity with 240 students.

Southeast instructors Grant Lund, Katherine Smith, Ron Clayton and Pat Reagan-Woodard all shared their knowledge and talents with the workshop participants.

Southeast student Pam Kirsch worked with the classes as a fill-in speaker.
